SK Electric Power Supply are specialist manufacturers of transformers, inverters and other electrical components for technology in the medical, industrial, energy, consumer and transportation sectors.When SK Electric embarked on a plan to expand sales in Europe, they asked me to update their principal logo to increase its appeal for customers in non-Asian markets. By re-drawing the original ‘SK’ monogram based on the cross-section of an electrical transformer, I preserved continuity with the past and a connection with its key products while modernising the overall look.
The updated symbol also uses negative space to create the impression of a pair of hands supporting the central roundel, further suggesting values of care, protection and stability; all key qualities for a company manufacturing components for medical, transportation, industrial and other sectors.
